ABOUT WITH PEN AND BRUSH

With Pen and Brush a dedicated team of talented artists traveling the region producing comic artwork and self published original work. The group was actually former by Rob Thibodeau and Vincent Marchesano. 

 

Following his retirement as a former professor at Mohawk College, Vincent was convinced to make a return to the convention curcuit by follow artist and longtime friend Rob Thibodeau. The group slowly expanded and initially was contained to a small group of 4-5 artists. 

 

Today, With Pen and Brush Studios features over 15 artists, writers and colourists.

OUR TEAM

VINCENT MARCHESANO

 

Vincent Marchesano has been in the comics business since the mid 60's. He put out the first Canadian fanzine and continued to put out many fanzines for years as well as contribute art to many American fanzines. His 4x5 inch fanzines brought him to the attention of many pros such as Jim Steranko. During the next few years he worked for small publications such as ORB magazine. He spent some time assisting Richard Buckler on Fantastic Four and Batman among others. He contributed to Charlton Comics and assisted Gene Day on some of his Marvel work. Over the years he has worked in commercial art and taught cartooning and storytelling courses for Mohawk College. After retirement he was convinced to return to the convention circuit by young artist Rob Thibodeau. 

ROB THIBODEAU

 

Rob is the co-founder of the art house With Pen and Brush Studios, and is both an artist AND actor. He has been featured in the Usagi Yojimbo 30th Anniversary Hardcover, worked on illustrations for Mattel, on the comic Hellz Diner and countless other publications. Rob was also was featured in the films Undercover Brothers, On the line, Bleacher Bums, Plainsong and on Showtimes QAF man of many talents.

CASSANDRA SERRANI

 

Cassandra Maria Serrani is an artist of Vinyl It, Illustrations under the studio of With Pen and Brush. She graduated from Sheridan College’s Visual and Creative Arts Program, as well as it’s Art Fundamentals Program. Cassandra likes to take a different approach to her artwork then your traditional artists at conventions, she loves to experiment in many different mediums and styles but her main medium she works with is paints. Currently her 2nd year of being a convention artist, Cassandra has attended such cons as Niagara Falls Comic Con, Hamilton Comic Con and Forest City Comicon. She has also had her art on auction at Anime North’s Gallery Momiji for the past 2 years. Cassandra is a Hamilton based artist, who also has done commission for customers.

STEPHAN PETERSEN

 

Stephan Petersen is a native of Kitchener, Ontario and a graduate of the Comic Design and Scripting Program at Mohawk College. He has done both illustration work and has also spent time with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats as a Graphic Designer. Stephan has a passion for indy comics and has collaborated on a few projects including Paroxysms of Caesars where he did all the artwork.

KYLE BARNETT

 

Kyle Barnett has been in the comic book industry since early 2015. He has put pencil to paper since he was young, drawing anything that came to mind. He recently joined the studio With Pen and Brush. He is an illustrator and pin-up artist and is constantly working on new creations. He is currently working on the illustration for a new comic which is to be announced soon.

CRAIG BLAKE

 

Craig “Old School” Blake has been an artist all his life. Working professionally for decades, “Old School” has done everything from comic books to advertising campaigns, all while owning and operating his production company, High Evolution Studios, LLC. A mainstay of the national comic book convention circuit, “Old School” has become known as “The King of the Collage” for his works of pop culture’s greatest icons. As of summer 2015, “Old School” is the consistent top selling pop culture artist on Amazon.com. This position has been held for over a year. Currently, Blake has expanded his focus into comic con promotion as well, holding his own events while working with almost a dozen independent shows from New York to California.

DENIELLE ROY

 

Denielle, AKA. the WonderLibrarian, can do it all! From drawing to cosplaying to podcasting all while being a youtube sensation, Denielle is always emersing herself in the pop-comic culture. Denielle is a regular fixture with "We Got The Geek" and has done countless interviews on their podcast show.
